STUDENT CONFERENCE ON NATURE CONSERVATION 2020

The Vietnamese Student Conference on Nature Conservation 2020 (SCNC20) will take place in Hanoi on September 25th, 2020. SCNC20 offers Vietnam’s young conservationists the chance to come together, to be inspired, to network, and to share their research. Early-career conservationists will be joined by experienced conservation decision makers, managers and experts from the length of Vietnam, making this an unrivalled networking opportunity for expected 150 attendees. 

Who Is Eligible?

Undergraduate, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and early-career professional (less than 5 years’ experience) working in conservation science in Vietnam.

Sessions

Participants can register to either giving an oral presentation or poster display on one of the following topics:

●            Ecological monitoring

●            Illegal wildlife trade

●            Applied social science in wildlife conservation

Oral And Poster Presentation

Oral and poster presentation by student and early-career delegates are a dynamic ingredient of SCNC, giving countless opportunities to share knowledge and ideas, as well as explore future opportunities to collaborate between delegates, NGOs, government agencies and other sectors who will be participating at the event. 

At SCNC20, best oral presentation and best poster presentation will be awarded to participants!

Networking Event

Government agencies and non-government organisations are working in wildlife conservation and related field will be provided with information booths to show-case their work in Vietnam to the participants. networking dinner will also be provided to create opportunities for participants to make connections with different NGOs and experts in the field, which will be valuable for their future careers. 

Bursary

Bursaries will be awarded to the 5 best applications from students and early-career conservationists to cover the costs of transportation and accommodation to attend the conference. Please note that only Vietnamese applicants who are living outside of Hanoi are eligible to apply for this bursary.

Frequently Asked Questions

1). I have more than 5 years full time working experience/ I’m a high school student, can I apply?

Yes, you still can apply. However, you are not eligible to present your work (neither oral or poster). Please make sure to tick the box Non-presenter when filling in the registration form. 

2). We conducted the research as a team, how can we sign up to the talk/poster?

Each application form only accepted detail from 1 person, hence you will not be able to register as a group. Please fill in the detail of the main researcher or the person who will representing your group and tick in the appropriate box (either oral or poster presentation). Each other member of your team will have to fill in the registration form if they wish to participate, but they will have to tick the box “Non-presenter”.
